Why I built A2Quest
Hi, I’m Anitesh Shaw, dad to two boys, Atharva and Ashvath, and I created A2Quest. The name is theirs: A² is Atharva × Ashvath. Two A’s, one quest.
I wanted a small daily habit for my own boys: a few minutes of real thinking every day, pitched exactly at their level and stretching them a little further each time. Not hours of worksheets, and not a game where the learning gets lost under the rewards.
Most practice tools are built for classrooms, district licenses or subscriptions. I wanted one built around one curious child at a time, free for every family, with a parent who can see how it’s going.
So A2Quest started as fifteen questions a day for my boys. Then came streaks they don’t want to break, a kind coach that cheers them on without handing out answers, and bedtime stories starring the two of them. Now it’s open to every family.
By day I lead quality engineering teams, so I’ve spent 18 years making sure software does what it promises. I build A2Quest the same way: carefully, checked, and honest about what it does.
What your child gets
- A daily math quest: 15 adaptive questions a day from a bank of nearly 10,000 questions across 58 topics, Pre-K to Grade 8. The level moves up when they’re cruising and eases off when they’re stuck.
- Streaks, badges and surprise exams: 18 achievements to unlock, XP and levels, and timed review tests built from their own question history, so review actually reviews.
- Bedtime stories: 27 illustrated picture books, with a new one every night. Each is read aloud with the words lighting up as they’re spoken, and ends with a gentle lesson.
- Science Facts: 16 videos answering big kid questions, like why the sky is blue or why your stomach growls.
- Write Along: One famous author’s writing tricks a day, in English and Hindi, for older kids who love to write.
- A kind AI coach: One warm note and one tiny tip after each quest. It cheers their thinking on and never gives away the answer.
What parents get
- A parent dashboard: PIN-protected and invisible to kids: accuracy, streaks, strengths, focus areas and weekly trends.
- A plain-language progress summary: Where your child is strong, where they need a hand, and how you can help, written from their real results.
- Real-life activities: Kitchen-table ideas for every weak topic, like pizza fractions and grocery-store totals.
- Stories this week: Which stories your child read or listened to, and how far they got.
- Parenting Tips: 22 videos in Hindi on everyday moments: sibling fights, screen time, bedtime battles and more.
How we keep it right
Every question comes from a curated question bank and is checked before it reaches a child. The right answer is stored with the question, and grading is an exact comparison. AI never invents questions or decides whether an answer is right.
AI does only two small jobs here: the encouraging note after a quest and the parent summary. Both are written from your child’s real results, kept kind, and never hand over answers.
Every story’s narration is checked word by word against its text, so the highlighted words always match what’s being read. Videos come from the A2Quest YouTube channel and play in YouTube’s privacy-enhanced mode.
If you spot a wrong answer, a typo, or anything that doesn’t feel right for a child, please tell me. Corrections are always welcome.
Promises I keep
- Free for every family. No paywall, nothing to buy.
- No ads.
- Children’s data is never sold. We collect only what the app needs to run.
- Real numbers only. Scores, streaks and progress are your child’s real results, never inflated.
- AI is a coach, never a cheat.
- Parents stay in charge. The parent area is PIN-protected, and you can ask us to delete your child’s data at any time.
Meet Atharva & Ashvath
Atharva
The big brother. Bright, confident and kind. The one who explains things to his little brother, and in our stories, usually the one with a plan.
Ashvath
The little brother. Small, excitable and full of giggles, with a question for everything. In the stories he’s Ashi, first to spot an adventure and first to ask “but why?”
This is just the beginning
A2Quest is only a start. More stories and video series are on the way, and family profiles so brothers and sisters can share one login. Your child’s daily quests and your feedback are what help it grow, so please tell me what you’d love to see next.
Thank you for being part of the A² family. 💛
